Great and useful video, but I think it could use making the music a bit quieter, as it overshadows your narration sometimes

I think if a Ben Howard’s song was a video essay, this video would be it. Your video makes me feel the same way Ben Howard’s music makes me feel. Well done.

Such a great video. So many moments where you’ll say my exact thoughts. I just recently got into Altman and am only a third through his filmography. There isn’t too many essays on Altman, so it’s nice to see one thats as well made as this one.

Great video. I saw Ben here in Chicago on the 2018 North American tour. He never finished his set list. He was clearly distressed, never got to this tune unfortunately, and he gave a farewell mid-song after playing for maybe 35-40 minutes. Always wondered what might have been up and hoped he was alright. I haven't been able to see him since. Wish him the best.

@@viewfinder.channel Sorry I didn't fully write what I was trying to say. What I meant to state is that it can be sad at this point to find channels where a creators who makes skilfully fan videos of things you like eventually move on to different things whether it be a different kind of media, jobs, or family. These creators don't have time or maybe even the interest to still put out these kind of love letter/analysis of some of their favourite media.

I remember the first time I saw this video I was completely blown away by how beautifully it was put together. Still to this day it is one of the most well crafted, peaceful and insightful things I've seen. It perfectly captures the the poetic nature of exploring a piece of music in depths far exceeding the expectations of the writer and finding within it something beautiful. The tone is also perfectly pitched throughout, a true masterpiece. Thank you for this

I guess you weren't dissapointed about 2049 hehe given how much details they put on sets and miniatures from what i've seen in the making of documentaries i think there is no films nowadays using that much miniatures and real sets denis villeneuve said he wanted to use as much real sets as possible so the actors could immerse themselves more and it pays of you can feel the places on the screen there is CGI where it is useful and almost impossible to make other wise but most of it is just amazingly crafted

And... he found it... you know, a definitive way of the song, and it's called Rockery. You know, I saw this video two days after you published it, back in 2020. And now, with Ben's new release yesterday, I listen to this song (Rockery) and my eyes got drowned in tears... Thanks for this. As you said, Ben is, whithout a doubt, one of the most underrated creative minds in modern music history.

I love practical effects but being a matte painter, matte painting is still widely used by studios, maybe not as it was practiced in the past but landscapes and 3d rendering still need handmade textures and backgrounds.
